Wallace Hagen "Wally" Hillyer, Sr, 89, of Merritt Island, FL. Wally was a WWII U.S. Army veteran in the 503rd Parachute Infantry, received his Master's Degree from Georgia Tech and retired from Dow Chemical Co as a Market Researcher for 25 years, including working on the Apollo Programs at KSC. He then was employed with the State of Florida Dept of Corrections. Surviving are his wife, Martha Ann Hillyer; children, Wallace (Hoa Thi Tran) Hillyer, Jr of Merritt Island and Debra Key of Pilot Mountain, NC; granddaughter, Hana Ann Hillyer and brother, Willis A. Hillyer. He was preceded in death by siblings, John, Harvey and Charlice. A Memorial service to celebrate Wallace's life will be held on June 19, 2011 at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home Chapel, Merritt Island. Published in FLORIDA TODAY on June 17, 2011
