Roger Herman Magnus, of Arapahoe, Nebraska died on Monday June 13, 2011 at BryanLGH West Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. Roger was born on August 20, 1939, in Deshler, Nebraska to Ludwig Albert "Louis" and Emma (Atenhan) Magnus.
Roger was baptized & confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Deshler, Nebraska. He attended St Peter's Lutheran School and graduated from Deshler (NE.) High School with the Class of 1957. Roger married Judith Schroeder on June 7, 1959 and had four daughters and they made their home at Arapahoe in 1968.
Roger was a carpenter by trade for most of his life. He worked in the lumberyard and had a construction business, owned Magnus Oil & Gas and owned Roger's Relics before retiring in Holbrook, Nebraska.
Roger was a volunteer fireman, fire chief and EMT in Alexandria, Nebraska for 9 years and also at Arapahoe for 14 years. He was involved in many community projects, including NCIP, community rehab, and many others. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska. He was very proud of being part of a heart block study program and research for pacemakers starting in 2006 till time of death. He was a fisherman, hunter, and loved being a grandfather most of all.
Roger was preceded in death by: parents and special friend Carolyn Meester.
Roger is survived by: children: Laurie and husband Gail Warner of Holbrook, Nebraska ; Debra and husband Russ Carlson of Arapahoe, Nebraska; Peggy and husband Jim Harwager of Lakeside, Nebraska; Kathy and husband Tim DeVries of Holbrook, Nebraska; grandsons: Brady and Laine DeVries and Tyrea Warner of Holbrook, Nebraska; Sisters: Donlan Noojin of Beatrice, Nebraska, Lois and husband Don Voss of St. Joseph, Missouri; Friend: Judith Magnus of Arapahoe, Nebraska
Interment was in The Deshler City Cemetery, Deshler, Nebraska.
