E.L. Sledge Dies
Near Ringgold on
Saturday, July 11

Ernest L. Sledge, 53-year-old farmer who lived east of Ringgold, died at 9 o'clock Saturday night following an illness of several months. He was a life long citizen of Bienville parish, having been born in Ringgold on July 16, 1882.

Funeral services were held at the home of the deceased and conducted by the Rev. Brown from Homer. He was buried at the Providence cemetery about a mile from Ringgold on the Jamestown highway. The deceased was a faithful member of the Baptist faith.

Following are the persons who survive: his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Thornton Sledge; three sons, Marlyn, Orville, and Wilmer Sledge, of Ringgold; two daughters, Mrs. C.W. Holt, of El Dorado, Ark., and Miss Newlyn Sledge of Marianna, Ark.; his mother, Mrs. Collin Sledge; three sisters, Mrs. W.B. Hall, Mrs. Lon Edwards, Mrs. G.A. Fuller. There were also two brothers, L.C. and B.D. Sledge.
