He was married twice. He first married Julia Brown (b. 1853). With Julia he had four children (one died young and we have no record of his/her name):
Marion B. Fort 1877-1957
Jacob Irving Fort 1880-1947
Fred Westevelt Fort, Jr. b. 1887
His daughter Marion taught in Frederick's elementary school. She apparently did not marry. She is buried with her father.
Jacob became a physician with an office in Newark. Fred had an insurance office.
It is not known if Frederick and Julia divorced or if Julia died while married to Frederick. The couple was living together in 1910. We have no burial information for Julia.
Frederick's married Jeanette Pullin (b. 1884) on July 14, 1915 in Newark, NJ. They had two children:
Charles P. Fort b. 1917
George L. Fort b. 1919
After Frederick died in 1926, Jeanette and her two sons moved in with Jeanette's mother, Anna M [Dalrymple] Pullin and Jeanette's sister, Edith M. Pullin on N. 6th St. in Newark.
In 1940, Jeanette and her two sons were living in the same house on N. 6th but by then Jeanette's mother had died and her sister Edith had moved out and married George Henry Eisele.
We do not know when Jeanette died nor where she is buried.
Cemetery records note that Frederick Fort purchased the two cemetery plots on November 18, 1897.
