Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, at the Immanuel Methodist Church in Olney. Burial was in the Scott Cemetery in Mt. Erie with Dr. Bruce Owens officiating. Full Military Rites were performed at the graveside by the Olney Veterans. Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney.
Galbreath was was born Dec. 9, 1909 in Mt. Erie, the son of John and Della (Miller) Galbreath. He married Lavinia Mae Hedrick at Fairfield on April 29, 1934.
He was a retired school teacher and administrator for the East Richland Schools. He was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Olney, a member of National Retired Teachers Association, Illinois Retired Teachers Association, Richland County Teachers Association, WWII U.S. Navy veteran and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Steve (Carolyn) Marrs of Olney; a brother, Joe William Galbreath of Centralia, a sister, Oleta Shannon of Mt. Erie; four grandchildren, Eric, Todd, Misty and Kenny; three step-grandchildren, Doug, Kelly and Jill; one step-great-grandchild, D.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
Galbreath was preceded in death by his parents, one son, four brothers, two sisters, two infant brothers and one infant sister.
