Alvin E. Greenwalt, 70, died Thursday, July 13,2006 at Port St. Lucie Medical Center in Florida of throat cancer. He was born January 24, 1936 to the late Alex and Mary Greenwalt.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Bloom Greenwalt; the mother of his children, Irene Louise Ziolo, two children, Vickie J. Greenwalt of Orange; and Alvin Greenwalt, Jr.; of Rancho Mirage, CA, three grandchildren, Joshua A. Hitt and his wife Angela of Sperryville, Jeramy W. Hitt and his wife, Cheryl of Orange, Gana E. Hitt of Orange and four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew, Trevor and Taylor Hitt. Additional survivors include three siblings, Richard "Sonny" Greenwalt of Utah, Leroy Greenwalt of Massachusetts and Regina "Gina" Larson of Minnesota and a lifetime friend of the family and also considered one of the daughters, Melinda Hill.

He was also preceded in death by his second wife Virginia Levine Greenwalt who died of cancer in 1991.

The family will receive friends Monday, July 17,2006 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 18,2006 at 11 a.m. at Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Culpeper American Legion Post #330 and the Culpeper V.F.W. Post #2524.

Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is handling the arrangements.
