Emma Leona (Bredberg) Sutton was born on November 8, 1893 and died in her home on November 10, 1958 after an illness of three years. She was born on the Bredberg Farm near Yorktown, the only daughter of William Nicholas and Flora May (Goldsberry) Bredberg. She graduated from Stockwell High School in 1911 and married Osa Sutton in 1912 in Lafayette. She was a lifetime resident of the Stockwell Community and was a member of the Stockwell Methodist Church.
Surviving besides her husband is a son, William Sutton, of Mulberry and two daughters, Mrs. Leona (Kenneth) Royer of Stockwell and Mrs. Imogene Rusk of Lafayette. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In addition, she is survived by her half-brother, William Haven Bredberg, a resident of Wyoming.
Emma was buried in the family plot at Yorktown Cemetery.
FAMILY NOTES: Gravestones cannot be found for two of Emma's children: a son born July 14, 1913 who died at birth and a daughter, Amanda Maxine. The family has always assumed they were buried in the family plot at Yorktown; perhaps the parents were unable to afford gravestones.
