He was born in Valley Springs, South Dakota, and married Aurlette Hog on November 4, 1934. He operated an auto repair shop in Larchwood until moving to Rock Rapids in 1942. He worked as an auto mechanic for a short time, and was later in the tile and drainage business. He was the mini-zoo keeper at Island Park in Rock Rapids for 20 years, retiring in 1976.
He is survived by his wife, Aurlette; two daughters, Mrs. John Jones, Bluefield Hills, Michigan, and Mrs. Roy Perry, Fairfax, Virginia; four grandchildren; one brother, Jacob, Sioux Falls, and one sister, Mrs. Grace Lieter, Hills, Minnesota.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Jungewaard-Stapp Funeral Home, with burial at the Larchwood Cemetery, where ther will be Masonic services.
