Last rites were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Community church in Larchwood for Mrs. Tillie Schipper, who died Saturday morning, April 11, at Mckennan hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Mrs. Schipper had been in ill health for the last several months. She was 79 years, 7 months and 11 days old at the time of her death.

Rev. Gordon Riffle was in charge of the service, with Lockwood's making the arrangements. Burial was at the Larchwood cemetery, with Harold Schipper, Robert Schipper, Willard Schipper, Bernard Szczurek, Harley Atwood and Bernard Slieter serving as pallbearers.

Tillie Margaret Flessner was born September 1, 1873 in Emden, Germany, and lived there until she was eight years old. She then came to the United States with her parents and settled at Steamboat Rock, Iowa. In 1889 the family moved to Steen, Minnesota.

October 25, 1890 she was married to Ulfert R. Schipper of Steen. The couple lived at Steen for 11 years, later moving to a farm near Ben Clare, South Dakota, in 1900. The remained there until 1921, when they moved to Larchwood. Her husband preceded her in death on November 17, 1931.

Mrs. Schipper moved to Rock Rapids in February, 1948, where she resided until her death.

Six children were born to the couple, one of whom died in infancy. Survivors are four sons and one daughter: John of Portage, Wisconsin, Henry and Jacob of Sioux Falls and Fred of Rock Rapids, and Mrs. Ben (Grace) Slieter of Steen, Minnesota.

There are also 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Nelsen of Stockton, California, and Mrs. Bert Peterson of Akron, Colorado, and many other relatives and friends.

Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Flessner, and three brothers preceded her in death.
