THORNVILLE - Services for George Oakley Wingate, 75, of Thornville, retired trucker and veteran of World War I, who died Sunday in Veterans Administration Hospital, Dayton area, will be held at 2p.m. Wednesday in Somerset. The Rev. Ralph Hersberger will conduct te service and burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Somerset.
The Son of Oakley and Mary (Parkinson) Wingate, he was born March 31, 1887, in Somerset. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lucille Wingate; a son Otis Wingate of Columbus; two daughters, Mrs. Junce Corson of Columbus and Mrs. Ruth Shaffer of Springfield; a stepson, Robert Hern of Columbus; seven grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers; Mrs. Clara Smith of Thornville, Mrs Myrtle Bayley of Pleasant City, Mrs Nettie Forgrave and Mrs Katie Hutchison of New Lexington, Park Wingate of Newark and Edward Wingate of Thornville.
