Husband of Olive May Armstrong Harper, married on February 24, 1897 in Batavia, Iowa, with Dr Ulysses Simpson Smith officiating.

Their daughters were Berneice and Florence. Florence's married name in the obituary for Onslow was given as "Rodger". but her obituary and headstone have it as "Rodgers". Berneices' name is sometimes found misspelled as "Berniece".

A son, Loren K Harper died on Nov. 14, 1899 and is buried in Milan cemetery, Milan, Kansas along with his paternal great-grandparents Richard M Harper and Catharine Shaw Harper.
