Jack Holland Damrell

Jack Holland Damrell, 85, died Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Greenwood Village South.

Survivors include two children, Jan Damrell and Jerry Damrell; a stepson, Randy (Beverly) Davis; and a sister.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Alberta Damrell; his first wife, Agnes Marie (Foley) Damrell; his second wife, Norma J. (Davis) Damrell; and two brothers.

Lee Asay will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with military rites provided by the local honor guard.

Jack Holland Damrell, 85, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Greenwood Village South. Jack was born on March 25, 1926 in Bloomington, IN to the late Edward Lee and Alberta Damrell. Jack joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served for 6 years, 3 months, and 23 days. He was a Carpenter's Mate 3rd Class. He received a Victory Medal, American Area Ribbon, and Asiatic-Pacific Area Stars.

Jack loved working with his hands and initiated his career by being self-employed in the carpentry industry for residential homes for 10+ years. He then joined L.C. Cassidy working with patio doors for 20+ years and then joined Eli Lily as a carpenter/supervisor for 22+ years. Jack retired in the mid 1980's. Jack very much loved working for Habitat for Humanity. He also was an avid golfer and could almost always be found working in his workshop.

Jack is survived by his 2 loving children: Jan Damrell and Jerry Damrell; step-son Randy Davis (wife, Beverly) and sister Martha.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; wife and mother of his children for 20+ years, Agnes Marie (Foley) Damrell; second spouse Norma J. (Davis) Damrell; 2 brothers; and a nephew.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with family member Lee Asay officiating.
