Services for MARY DRAKE

Mary Louise Drake, 77, wife of Alfred D. Drake and a resident of Patterson, died Tuesday, September 19, 1978, at Memorial Hospital in Winterset. She was the daughter of Samuel G. and Alice R. Barber Brown, born May 1, 1901, in Madison County.

A housewife, Mrs. Drake was married to Alfred Drake on August 25, 1930, in Creston. He preceded her in death on February 8, 1978. Mrs. Drake was affiliated with the Methodist Church in Patterson. She was chairman of the WSCS, a Sunday school teacher and superintendent, a current member of the church board at Patterson; she also held membership in the Madison County Veterans of World War I Auxiliary and the N O. Club.

Survivors include a son, Allen Drake of Martensdale; a daughter, Ethel (Mrs. Frank) Brennecke of Ackley, Iowa; three sisters, Geneva Bertholf of Winterset, Elma Fogler of Patterson and Florence Fairholm of Peru; three brothers, John of Winterset and Eugene and Arthur of Patterson; and ten grandchildren.

Preceding Mrs. Drake in death were her husband, parents, five brothers and an infant sister.

Funeral services for Mrs. Drake were conducted Saturday, September 23 at 10:30 a.m. from Patterson First United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Grotewold officiating. Burial was made at the Union Chapel Cemetery.
