RITES HELD WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON FOR F. T. EMERT AT M. E. CHURCH:

F. T. Emert, 76, a resident of Floyd County since 1905, and a substantial citizen since the early agricultural development of the county began, died at his home two miles northwest of Dougherty Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 following an illness due to paralysis. He had been in ill health for two or three years.

The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at 2 at the First Methodist Church in Floydada and interment made in Floydada Cemetery. Rev. W. V. O'Kelley, pastor of Floydada Circuit, M. E. Church, South.

Active pallbearers were Lon M. Davis, W. Edd Brown, R. W. Lotspeich, C. E. Bartlett, S. M. Crawford, Henry Bloodworth.

Flower attendants were Mrs. W. Edd Brown, Mrs. Jno. N. Farris, Mrs. J. B. Jenkins, Mrs. T. J. Campbell, Mrs. C. E. Bartlett, Mrs. R. W. Lotspeich, Mrs. A. H. Kreis and Mrs. Joe Smith.

Harmon Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

A native of Tennessee, where he was born on November 4, 1860. Mr. Emert had been resident in Texas many years. He moved to Floyd County from Comanche County, Texas. A wide range of activities had marked his career in this county before failing health caused his retirement. In an early day of the county's development 1908-09, he served for two years as president of Floydada Chamber of Commerce.

Surviving the deceased are his wife, four sons and one daughter, all of whom were present for the funeral. The sons are W. W. of Floydada, A.T. and J. J. of Dougherty, and A. C. of Ivanhoe, Fannin County. The daughter is Mrs. J. C. West of Portales, New Mexico. Nineteen grandchildren also survive; and three brother and three sisters.
