He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce Sachar. He is survived by his daughters, Rhoberta Michaels and LouAnne Michaels Wolf; his son-in-law, John Wolf; and grandchildren, Sasha Michaels Rappaport, Rachel and Amy Wolf; sister-in-law, Ruth Sachar Furman; brother-in-law, Richard Sachar; and four nieces and nephews.
After being honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant from the US Army, Marvin was a retail merchandise manager for many years. A former basketball player, Marvin spent his retirement golfing, traveling, spending time with his grandchildren, and volunteering in elementary schools, where he read to children.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick, NJ. Donations can be made to Reading Is Fundamental, a national non-profit organization that prepares and motivates children to read by delivering free books and literary resources to those children and families who need them most.
Graveside Services will be held at Beth El Cemetery, (Bergen County) Washington Township, NJ on Monday, Jan. 25, 2010
