B.H. Bramblett,an aged and highly respected citizen died in this city at the home of his daughter, Mrs.Bert Tolson on Friday evening about 5:30 oclock of pneumonia. Mr. Bramblett had been in poor health all summer but his condition was not considered serious until a week ago when he contacted a severe cold. His age was 72 years, 10 months and 23 days. He had always been an active and energetic man, both mentally and physically and well adapted to the life of a pioneer whose generous impulses and hospitable ways he never forgot. He believed that "men and women, youth and children, seek the friendship of the enemy faced".
Benjamin Henry Bramblett was born in Nicholas county, Kentucky on the 22nd day of December 1834. He came to Christian county, Illinois in 1864 and was married to Miss Martha E. Adams on the 6th day of October 1865. There came to bless this union, eight children, five sons, J. E. and W. K. Bramblett of Blue Mound,Illinois, B. F. and J. C. Bramblett of Moweaqua, Illinois, E. E. Bramblett of Oreana, Illinois and three daughters, Beulah Tolson of Moweaqua, Mrs.Emma Boy of Decatur,Illinois Mrs.Gertrude Ross of Wichita, Kansas
In 1875 he moved to Macon county, Illinois where he resided until a few years ago--of recent years he has divided his time,living with each of his children a part of the time.
The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church on 18 November 1907 and were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Robert B. Irwin, officiating. The Masonic Fraternity which order had charge of the services at the North cemetery and of which order Mr. Bramblett was a member.
