Funeral service for Lounita (Ballou) Zimmerman, 76, Elgin, will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Paradise Valley Baptist Church with Reverend Curtis Erwin, officiating.
Ms. Zimmerman passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011, at her home in Elgin.
Alice Lounita (Ballou) Zimmerman was born May 3, 1935, in Medicine Park, OK, to Seth and Aurilla (Kleeman) Ballou. Lou attended Stoney Point grade school then Elgin Schools. Lounita married J.D. Martin on July 4, 1950 and the couple moved to Clovis, NM. The two were married for 31 years and had 3 children. She was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church in Elgin. Lounita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and Nana and will be missed dearly.
She is survived by 2 sons: John Stanley Martin and Stacey Martin and his wife Charlette; 1 daughter, Janice Austin and her husband Dennis; 2 brothers: Lon Ballou and Lawrence Ballou; 5 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Seth and Aurilla Ballou; 3 brothers: Wayne, Lynn, and Lloyd Ballou; and 1 sister, Fran Hankins.
