Benjamin Allen Franklin was born March 18, 1870 in Taney County, Missouri, moving to this locality when a boy nine years old and lived here in this vicinity until 21 years of age. At that time he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In the year 1897 on February 22 he married Jessie Simpkins, and in 1901 moved to Stark, Kansas, where he was engaged in farming until March 1936. Because of failing health he retired to Walnut to live.

Mr. Franklin united with the Porterville church in 1913.

Six children were born to this union, Mrs. Claus Augustin, Walnut, Kansas; Loyd Franklin, Savonburg, Kansas; Mrs. Bessie Lash, Pittsuburg, Kansas; Leon Franklin, Kansas City, Mo.; Virgil Franklin, Stark, Kansas. A son, Otis Franklin passed away February 9, 1933. Besides his children he leaves his widow, Mrs. Ben Franklin of the home, three sisters, Mrs. Belle Ferguson of Kimball, Kansas; Mrs. Jennie Hannah, Webb City , Mo.; Mrs. Sally Payne, Los Angeles, California; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Newt Franklin, McPherson, Kansas, and Mrs. Robert Franklin of Wheaton, Mo.; nineteen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews are left to mourn his departure.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church conducted by the pastor, Rev. T. W. Siever. Burial was in Glenwood cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Epp Rainey, Frank Nelson, M.J. Page, Frank Manaugh, Walter Low, Jas. McFarland.
