Miss Mabel Ryder, daughter of the Rev. Isaac Ryder (Deceased) and of his wife, Araminta Ryder, died Aug. 30, 1939, in St. Luke's Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla. She was brought up in the parsonage home of her cultured parents who served for several years in each of the Florida and Baltimore conferences.
Miss Ryder was a graduate of Washington College, Maryland, and of the Normal School. Later she studied in Peabody and in the University of Florida. She taught in McDonough high school in La Planta, Maryland, one year at Stetson University, DeLand, Fla. and for many years following in the public schools of Jacksonville, Fla.
She is survived by her mother, Mrs. I. M. Ryder, one sister, Mrs. P. J. Patterson, wife of our pastor, Dr. Patterson, of Bartow, Fla.; two brothers, Ira E. Ryder, major in the U.S. Army, and C. A. Ryder of Cleveland, Ohio.
The beautiful life of Miss Mabel needs no comment except to those who did not know her. Her excellent service as public school teacher, her unselfish devotion to her mother and to her Lord and her Christlike spirit has left its influence to bless the world to the end of time.
