Ben Backes, 63, died last night at his home in North Aurora. He was born there Jan. 17, 1888. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Flora Backes; a son, Wesley; three grandchildren; and a brother, John. A son died in 1934.
Mr. Backes was a member of Our Savior Lutheran church of Aurora and Batavia Post 504, American Legion.
He had been employed at the Sperry foundry for more than 28 years.
Friends may call at the Johnson chapel in Batavia. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
