David Isom was the son of David and Elizabeth Young. Family reports differ on the date & location of his birth. He was likely born 1822-1827 probably in Smith or Jackson County, Tennessee. He was perhaps the first of several to die at Summer Quarters. "He was buried according to his request about half mile south of Summer Quarters on a high eminence in the prairie. His grave is the first and was laid in the N.W. corner."~Gary Young, g.g.g grandson, as reported in the "Life & Times of William Young: Tennessee Frontiersman, Utah Pioneer", extracted from the journals of John D. Lee.
