Resided in Cleveland County and was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting in Ceveland County at the age of 27, February 10, 1863, Company T, 55th North Carolina Infantry. Deserted on April 9, 1863 Returned to duty on an unspecified date. Aaron appears on the Register of Receiving and Wayside Hopsital or General Hospital No. 9, Richmond, Va. as being admitted on Dec. 14, 1863. On January 03, 1864, Aaron dies of pneumonia in General Hospital No. 24, Richmond, Va. On the Company Muster Roll for May & June 1864, Aaron is reported as "absent sick". On the Muster Roll for Sept. & Oct., he is listed as absent. " Sent to Hospital December 1863, and never heard from since. Supposed to be dead."

Aaron leaves behind a wife, Barbara (Unk maiden name) and daguther Sarah c1861. Along with his mother, Alice (Allie) Buff, and 3 brothers who are also serving in Co. F 55th NC Inf., Peter, David, and Phillip.
