Aaron Alpaugh, who has been confined to an invalid's chair the last eleven years, died suddenly at the Douglas hospital last Friday forenoon. He was sitting in his chair on the hospital porch when he suffered a stroke of paralysis, the second, that proved fatal.

Mr. Alpaugh had a stroke about eleven years ago that affected one side of his body and since that time he has lived at the hospital and used a wheel chair for his trips downtown. His misfortune failed to change his cheerful optimism and his interest in the affairs of life which continued until his death.

He was a native of New York, having been born at Batavia in that state April 6, 1854 (obit says 1844, but cemetery and mortuary records show 1854). He had lived in Douglas for over twenty years, coming here from southern Colorado. As far as is known he was survived by no known relatives.

Information was obtained from his obituary in the Douglas Budget September 8, 1927; Douglas Enterprise Sept. 6, 1927; and cemetery records. A copy of the obituaries can be obtained from the Converse County, WY library.
