Daniel Lane moved to Nichols, Tioga, New York with his parents in 1818. Before 1831, he married Sarah Maria Crandall. They were still of Nichols in 1834 and still in Tioga County to at least 1836. It is unclear as to where Danial Lane died. Reaseacher Howard E. Lane states he died in Michigan, but does not site a refereance. Leroy Pritcher, a decendant of Daniel's brother Amos Lane, states in a paper he wrote on the Lane family, that Daniel died in Indiana and states that is based on a record in the National Archives in Washington D.C.
