DIES AFTER LEG IS MASHED
Charles T. Jones, one of the prominent farmers of Buckhart township, had an accident this morning while engaged in cutting down trees at his home, three miles south of Edinburg which cost him his life.
A tree fell upon him, pinning him to the ground, and smashing the knee of the left leg so bad that three Edinburg physicians who were called into the case and decided that immediate amputation of the injured leg was necessary. It was removed about two inches above the knee.
At 3:15, just after coming out from under the influence of chloroform, Mr. Jones gasped twice and died.
He was 50 years old and leaves a wife and five children.
He was well known in and around Edinburg, having been a highway commissioner of Buckhart township for years.
The funeral service over the remains will occur at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Bethel Baptist church, near Sharpsburg, interment following in the church cemetery.
