Mrs. Enzor died Monday, Sept 21, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Archie Wood McConnell and Pearl Mitchell McConnell and granddaughter of the late Robert A. and Berta Wood McConnell, all of Anderson, SC.
Due to the early death of her mother, she grew up in her beloved grandmother's care. A graduate of Erskine College, she received a master's degree from The Citadel. She taught English at Floyds High School in Horry County and at Southside and South Florence High Schools in Florence. Active in church music since her early teens, Mrs. Enzor had locally been choir director at Southside Baptist Church and at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, where she was a member. She was for a number of years a member of the Masterworks Choir. Outside of music and her family, her major interest was in South Carolina literature, particularly that of Poet Laureate Archibald Rutledge. She shared this interest with many of her students.
Surviving are her husband, Carrol B. Enzor of Florence; daughter, Virginia Ann (Maynard) Pittendreigh of Fort Myers, FL; son, Monty M. (Sarah) Enzor of Effingham; 2 grandchildren, Seabrooks Enzor of Fort Mill, SC, and John Kirk Pittendreigh of Fort Myers, FL. She was the mother of the late C. Brooks Enzor.
Memorials may be made to the Hopewell Choir Florence, SC or to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, Greenville, SC.
