Jim Harmon

Jim Roger Harmon, son of the late John and Ethel Terry Harmon was born on December 3, 1922, in Sallis, MS.

He accepted Christ at an early age and united with the St. John Missionary Baptist Church.

He received his education in the Sallis Public School System.

Jim was a World War II Army Veteran assigned to the Pacific Theater and received numerous medals such as the ATO, APTO, Good Conduct, and the World War II Victory Medal.

He later became an employee of Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital in Kosciusko, MS; from 1971 to 1984 where he was Supervisor of the Housekeeping Department.

Mr. Harmon departed this life on Thursday, June 11, 1998, at 10:25 a.m. at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson, MS; after a prolonged illness.

On April 6, 1946, he was united in holy matrimony with Miss Bonnie Jean Sandifer, and to this union, they were blessed with twelve children. Two children preceded him in death.

He leaves these loved ones to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Mrs. Bonnie Jean Harmon; ten children: seven daughters, Janice Harmon, Brenda Harmon Teague, Sharon Harmon Woods, Daisy Harmon Allen (Johnny) all of Bellwood, IL; and Vickie Lynn Harmon Edwards (Odell) of Meridian, MS; Ollie Clara Harmon Smith (Thomas) and Mary Harmon Burnside (Curtis) of Chicago, IL; three sons, Larry Harmon (Lorrie) of Bellwood, IL; Charles Harmon of Sallis, MS; and Jimmie Harmon (Louise) of Kosciusko, MS; one adopted son, Willie D. Ellis of Milwaukee, WI; three sisters, Johnnie Newell of Kosciusko, MS; Ezra Ferguson of Sallis, MS; and Bessie Wilson of New Orleans, LA; one brother, Roy Harmon of Milwaukee, WI; several grandchildren, Tammie Harmon, Glenn Allen, Teresa and Brena Smith, William Tyler Edwards, Brittany and Shuntaye Burnside, Shundera Harmon, Joequan Harmon, Denzel Teague, Mark Woods, Carre' Woods, Travis and Kandra Harmon, Jeanell and Larry Harmon, II, Shelly, Tomeka, and Keisha, and Aundrea Harmon; seven great-grandchildren, Marcus and Nicole Allen, Kenny, Derrick, and Jimal Smith, James, and Jamie Harmon, a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, and friends.
