Funeral services were held for Elder Ellis E. Shakespear March 2, in the Tropic meeting house at 11 a.m., with Bishop John H. Johnson presiding and conducting the exercises.
Ellis E. Shakespear, son of W. J. and Matilda Shakespear, was born June 9, 1901 at Tropic. He died February 28, 1928, from injuries received in an automobile accident February 25, 1928.
Ellis was an exemplary young man, one of clean habits, and was an active church worker all his life. On October 25, 1925, he was called on a mission in the central states and labored most of his time in eastern Kansas, where he did much in promoting the missionary work. He returned home December 4, 1927. Since his return he has been working in the ward. He attended Leadership week at Provo, was second assistant superintendent in Sunday School, assistant secretary and treasurer in Mutual. He made a trip to St. George on a temple excursion where he did work for nine persons. It was while on his return home that he was killed.
He will be missed in this community as a friend and brother.
The bishopric from Cannonville and Henrieville were in attendance, besides a great many friends from each place. There was also a large attendance from Panguitch.
The grave was dedicated by Elder Leo L. Barton.
