Mr. Godfrey was born in Warsaw, where he attended schools and worked for four years at Power's Clothing Store. He moved to Fort Wayne in 1929, where he worked for Interstate Department Stores, and was transferred to Stillman's, their Muncie store in 1933. He retired in 1972 when the store closed. He was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church and Muncie Lodge 433 F&AM.
Surviving are his wife, Uva Kirkpatrick Godfrey; two daughters, Mrs. Allen (Rebecca Jane) Gasey, Muncie, and Mrs. Jack (Gloria Gean) Quesinberry, Winter Garden, Fla.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and two nieces and a nephew.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Meeks Mortuary. Burial is to be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday or before the funeral Friday. Muncie Lodge 433 F&AM will conduct memorial services at Meeks at 7 p.m. Thursday.
