David Griffith Kimple was often called Griff or in later years, D.G. Kimple. He was the youngest child of Philip Sigler Kimple who lived to adulthood. His younger sister, Nellie and his mother, Jane Beard died when he was 5 years old. He was raised by his stepmother, Margaret Gunn. After marriage to Cora Middlebrook he moved to Waverly, Coffee Co., Kansas before moving to Rice Co., Kansas about 1894. He farmed in Rice Co., Kansas in the vicinity of Lyons and Frederick. After the death of his 1st wife, Cora, he married Minnie Kimple Hancock, his 1st cousin, daughter of his uncle Jacob Kimple.
