Frances Julia Byars Hall COLUMBIA, SC - A memorial service for Frances Julia Byars Hall, 80, will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, January 23, 2010, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at noon. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mrs. Hall died January 20, 2010. Born May 17, 1929, in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Milledge and Lola Pearl Derrick Byars. A long-time employee of the S.C. Department of Health, she owned several businesses after her retirement, including Frannie's in Charleston and Stumphole Landing in Elloree. She was a life-long member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Olympia and a member of the PeeDee Indian Nation of Beaver Creek. Surviving are her granddaughter, Michelle Schohn and partner, Mary Glantz, Arlington, Va.; grandson, Jack Hall (Crystal Nichols); great-grandchildren, Hailie and Bradley Hall, all of Gaston; brother, Ervin Byars, Columbia; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Jacqueline Faye Hall Schohn; son, Michael Wayne Hall; brothers, Alvin, Melvin "Tony" and Frank Byars; sister, Margaret Byars.
