MONTEREY -- Funeral services for General Lee Buckner, 72, of the Woodcliff community near Monterey, will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 6, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Whittaker Cemetery in Monterey.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today, Sunday, June 5, at the funeral home.
Mr. Buckner passed away Friday, June 3, 2011, in Standing Stone Care & Rehabilitation Center in Monterey.
He was born Dec. 19, 1938, in Monterey to the late Bill and Jane Burgess Buckner.
Mr. Buckner was retired from Textron Aerostructures in Nashville.
His family includes his companion, Nina Forsyth of Sparta; a son, Robbie Buckner of Mt. Juliet; a granddaughter, Jordan Buckner of Mt. Juliet; two sisters, Willene Clemons of Monterey and Imogene Kolbe of Lebanon; and a brother, Emerson Buckner of Anderson, Ind.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Everett (S.T.), Odie and Carl Benton Buckner.
Rev. Kevin Phillips will officiate at the services.
