CLYDE - Ellen (Cook) Hicks, 89, a lifelong resident of the Clyde area, died Friday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Clyde with Dr. Jerry Joplin and the Rev. Ron Cook officiating. Burial will be in the Clyde Cemetery, directed by Bailey Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hicks was born in Callahan County and attended school at Eagle Cove, Pleasant View School, and Lone Oak School. She finished her schooling in the Midway Community. She was the widow of Robert Lee Hicks, whom she married in Baird in 1927. She was a member of the Clyde Senior Citizens and the First Baptist Church of Clyde. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include four sons, J.B. Hicks and Billy G. Hicks, both of Ft. Worth, and Harold S. Hicks and Jimmy F. Hicks, both of Clyde; four brothers, Hiram Cook of Clyde, Carl Cook of Garland, Raymond Cook of Friona, and Robert Edward "Corky" Cook of Wichita Falls; and one sister, Edna Barrington of Abilene.
