Stephen Lee Gayle, 55, of Stafford County, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011at his home, Killdeer Hill. Steve was truly a gentle spirited man, whose love of his fiancée and family heritage defined him. Preserving the integrity of his farm through a conservation easement was more important to him than monetary gain. His generous caring spirit led him to a career as an EMT and a life time volunteer member of the White Oak Volunteer Rescue Squad. He loved all animals and opened his home to every stray that was brought home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Frances Gayle; and a step-daughter, Carla Rowley. Survivors include his loving fiancée, Tina Bennett of the home and her son, William Joseph Bennett; his brother, John Robert Gayle and wife, Rhmalda of "the Glebe" Stafford County; one niece, Tara Gayle; two nephews, John Gayle, Jr. and Derek Gayle; two special cousins, Elizabeth Pruett and Janet Gayle Harris; and numerous other cousins. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2011 in the family cemetery at The Glebe 1374 White Oak Road, Stafford County. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his name may be made to White Oak Volunteer Rescue Squad, 535 White Oak Road Fredericksburg, VA 22405 or to the Fredericksburg Christian Health Center, 1129 Heatherstone Dr. Fredericksburg, VA 22407.
