Thomas A Maze, only child of John and Susan Maze, was born on July 18, 1852, near Dadeville, and departed this life at his home in Greenfield March 21, 1924, at the age of 71 years, 8 months, and 3 days.
He grew to manhood in the Dadeville community, and was married to Rebecca S Quarles. To this union eight children were born, six sons and two daughters. The companion and both daughters preceded him in death. He was married a second time to Mary E Morris of Greenfield, who, with six sons, JE of Kansas City; JA of Henrietta, Oklahoma; CT of Greenfield; and Hailey, Will and Ed of Dadeville, survive. He also leaves twenty grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of relatives to mourn his departure.
He was converted a number of years ago and joined the church at Bona, being a member of the Christian church until death.
"Uncle Tommy" was one of the county's most progressive farmers and stockmen, was a good father, husband and neighbor, and numbered his friends by his acquaintances.
He was stricken with paralysis about two weeks before his death, and his six sons were constantly at his bedside ministering to his every want, and doing all that loving hands could do to make his last hours as comfortable as possible.
Funeral services were held at the Christian Church on Saturday, March 22, at 1;00 pm, conducted by the writer, and his remains were laid to rest beside his wife in the Morris cemetery, northeast of Dadeville. -- Mrs. SM Crank
