David Stiffler Sr. emigrated with John Knisley to the site of New Philadephia, Ohio in 1804, and probably were the original settlers of the city. David built a cabin in the Beaverdam Valley just east of the city. The Stiffler Cemetery is located on a hill overlooking the cabin site.
