Served as a soldier in Terry's Texas Rangers (8th Texas Cavalry) between 1861 and 1865. Served as a law enforcement officer in the Arizona Rangers (1904-1905) and on the Douglas, AZ Police Department (1916-1921) where he was one of the states oldest peace officers. It is believed he died as a result of injuries sustaind in the line of duty.
