Mrs. Joe Broz, 78, Dies Saturday At Home Here
Funeral Services Held Yesterday At Trinity Church
Mrs. Joe Broz, 78, passed away at her home in south Lakefield last Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock. She had been in poor health for the past four years and had been confined to her bed for the past two months.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the house at 1:15 o'clock and at Holy Trinity Lutheran church in Hunter at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Thomas Urban in charge. Burial was in Holy Trinity cemetery in Minneota township.
Mrs. Susie Zellar Broz was born in Czechoslovakia Dec. 13, 1867*, daughter of Andrew and Mary Ceroka*. She came to America when a young woman and made her home with her brother Joe Ceroka at Streator, Ill.. Here she was united in marriage in 1892 to Andrew Zellar.
The couple came to Lakefield when the town was in its infancy and located on a farm in Hunter township, where she resided until 5 years ago, when she moved to Lakefield.
Mr. Zellar died in 1900*, leaving the widow with four children. In 1903 Mrs. Zellar was united in marriage to Joe Broz and one son, Joe Jr., was born to this union.
Surviving in addition to the bereaved husband, are the following children: Andrew and John Zellar of Hunter township, Mrs. Mike Micklos* of Lakefield and Joe Broz Jr. of Worthington. One daughter, Mary, died in 1921. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Joe Mazzak*
of Streator, Ill., also several nephews and nieces residing in Streator, and seven grandchildren.
Out of town relatives attending the services were: Mrs. Joe Mazzak*, Michael J. Wargo, Mrs. Anna Cook and Mrs. Lizzie Hancin, all of Streator, Ill., and Robert Micklos S1/c of Key West, Florida.
