The death of Mrs. Mary Healy occurred at her home on Pleasant Street Saturday, Sept. 23, after having been in ill health for the past five months during which time she was, for the most part, confined to her bed and was tenderly cared for by her daughter, Mrs. Falls Norwood.
Born in Milltown July 14, 1865, only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Walsh, she was a lifelong resident of the town. Her husband, Edward Healy, predeceased her by 14 years.
Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. Falls Norwood (Christine) of Milltown, and Mrs. John Donovan (Mary) of Arlington, Mass., both registered nurses, and two grandchildren, Walter Norwood and Edward Donovan.
Mrs. Healy, of a kind and friendly disposition, was highly regarded by her many friends. A respected citizen, she was keenly interested in civic affairs while health permitted. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Catholic Women's League, the Altar Society and the League of the Sacred Heart.
The funeral was held from her residence to St. Stephen's Church Tuesday, Sept. 26, where high mass of requiem was sung by Rev. John Mooney with the pastor, Very Rev. Dean M. O'Brien, in the sanctuary. Pall-bearers were Ernest Cunningham, William O'Brien, Francis MacFarlane, and Frank Sherman. Numerous spiritual offerings and beautiful floral pieces marked the esteem in which the deceased was held. Mass cards were received from the Daughters of Isabella and the Catholic Women's League. Interment was made in the Milltown Cemetery with prayers at the grave recited by Rev. John Mooney.
Those attending the funeral from out of town were Mrs. John Donovan and son Edward, of Arlington, Mass.; Dr. and Mrs. Maynard Smith of Laconia, NH; and Mrs. Roland Crone and Mrs. Thelma Chisholm of Bangor. (St. Croix Courier)
