The remains of John Walsh, who died suddenly of appoplexy in Memphis, Tenn., on Sunday the 14th inst., arrived at Milltown by W.C.R. on last Thursday at noon, accompanied by C.P. Mooney, and were conveyed to the home of his brother, Michael Walsh, on Pleasant street. The funeral took place with a high mass of requiem on Saturday morning. The following were the pallbearers: P.J. Manix, Alfred Kelley, John McLaughlin and William Casey.
Deceased left Milltown eighteen years ago and was thirty-seven years of age at the time of his death. Previous to his leaving Milltown he had mastered the art of telegraphy. In this capacity he was employed by Morehead, Randolph & Co., of Memphis, and in a letter which we have before us, they have this to say about him: 'In regard to John Walsh's ability we wish to state that he was one of the most valuable men we ever had in our employ. He was capable, honorable and trustworthy. His disposition was of the kindest character, and he was considered by all the firm a high toned, elegant gentleman. He was generous to a fault, and we have never heard of him having an enemy.' Deceased leaves one sister, Mrs. Edward Healey, of Milltown, also one brother, Michael, recently employed with C.J. Lyford & Co. (St. Croix Courier, Feb. 25, 1904)

James Walsh and wife, of Bangor, were in town last week to attend the funeral of John Walsh. (Ibid)
