According to her grandson, Milton R. Harper, Emeretta was mostly known as "Emma".
Emeretta came to WA with her family in 1872. Her father Emsley Fincher helped found the town of Penawawa, WA.
Emeretta married first Milton Claypool Harper, 4 Sep 1875, in Whitman Co, WA, probably at home. They had Marguerite, James Paine, Ivy Pearl, Nellie Myrtle, and Colby George Harper. He died in 1887.
Emeretta married second Thomas Knox, 12 Sep 1888, in Colfax, WA. They had Anna Laura, Mary Elizabeth, Jessie, Josephine, and George Walter Knox.

Mrs KNOX Came to Wilcox Country in 1875
Mrs Emmerette KNOX, wife of Thomas KNOX, died last Sunday on the farm near Wilcox where she has lived since 1875. Funeral services were held in the Christian church in this city Tuesday afternoon, Rev W A DIGGINS officiating. Burial was in the Colfax cemetery.
Besides a husband, Mrs KNOX is survived by nine children. She was born at Monroe, Wis, December 17, 1853, and came to the Inland Empire when she was 22 years of age.
