Hancel J.D. Borden, Moulton, Ala., passed away Monday, May 5, 2008, at his home.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. at Spry Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, May 6, 2008. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, in the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be Brother Troy Kirby and Sister Pearl Shelton. Interment will be in Tharptown Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Paul Radford, Billy Wyrick, Eric Sparks, Shane Holliman, Roy Borden, Kenneth Holland and Darrian Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.
He is survived by his son, Jimmy (BJ) Borden; daughters, Diane (Tim) Radford, Darlene (Anthony) Horton; brother, Monroe Borden; sister, Lillian Wright; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren (with three on the way); and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Dorothy Cummings; three brothers; three sisters; and his parents.
He was a good hearted man, who loved his children and family very much. He remains very precious to his children and was always there for them. He served his country proudly as part of the U.S. Marine Corp. He left his family and friends with a lot of good memories and will be missed by all.
