Francis "Frank" Rancus Berry was born on October 29, 1836, in Hawkins County, Tennessee. (I believe strongly that the date on his gravestone of 1830 is in error.) His parents were Thomas Edward Berry, Sr., and Thomas's second wife Sarah "Sarai" Everhart Berry. (Thomas and Sarah were married on November 20, 1833.)

When he was 20, Frank Berry married Elizabeth B. Walker on August 19, 1857, in Hawkins County, Tennessee. Frank and Elizabeth farmed in Hawkins County all their adult lives. While Frank worked in the fields, Elizabeth took care of the home and children. From this union were born the following known children:

1. John Berry 1858–1862;
2. Newton Berry 1860–1861;
3. Cleon Berry 1862–1936, Cleon married Liza Cassandra "Cassie" (1870-1938), both buried Long and Berry Cemetery;
4. Edward Berry 1865–1954, Edward married first Mollie D. Gully (1868-1896) about 1887 and second Sarah E. Isenberg (1867-1930) on November 2, 1898, Mollie buried Frank Berry Cemetery; Edward and Sarah buried Long and Berry Cemetery;
5. Jasper A. Berry 1870–1947, Jasper married Mary "Mollie" Melvina Horner, both buried Otes United Methodist Church Cemetery;
6. Mahlon Berry 1870–1880; and
7. Sarah "Sarai" Berry 1872–1969, remained single, buried Long and Berry Cemetery.

Frank died on 1898. Elizabeth and her daughter Sarah "Sarai" then lived in White Horn, Hawkins County with her son Cleon and his family. She died died three years after Frank.
