From Holland St. John - "Bert was born on December 3, 1866 in Iowa. His parents have not been identified. On October 3, 1907 he married Elizabeth Mae "Lizzie" (Jones) (Smith) Cash. Lizzie had lost two of her former husbands through death and was a widow when Bert married her. The couple had one child: Forest Lee who was born September 12, 1908 in Idaho County, Idaho. The U S Census of 1920 records that Bert was living at Kamiah, Lewis County, Idaho and was a "general laborer" by trade. Both he and Lizzie were listed as fifty-three years of age. Living at home was their son Forrest (11) and Lizzie's mother Evaline Jones (76). By 1930 the family had moved to the town of Grangeville, Idaho County and Bert was employed as a carpenter. Living at home was his wife Lizzie, their son Forrest Lee (spelled with two "r"s) and two boarders. On April 12, 1936 Bert passed away in Grangeville. He was laid to rest in the Prairie View Cemetery located in Grangeville. His burial site has been listed by the cemetery records as Block 4, Lot 9, Plot N end. It also indicated that no marker has been discovered."
