Joseph "Bud" Monroe Benson, Sr. of Potosi, Missouri was born on Tuesday, July 6, 1937 in Potosi, Missouri a son of the late, Lucy Albert (Wilkinson) Benson and Alfred Jerome Benson.

"Bud" departed this life on Monday, May 23, 2011 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home, Potosi, Missouri having reached the age of seventy-three years, ten months and seventeen days.

"Bud" was united in marriage to Wilma June Ayers on February 10, 1962 in Potosi, Missouri.

"Bud" is survived by three daughters, Kimberly Jaycox and husband, Woody of Potosi, Missouri, B.J. Essmyer and fiancé, Jeff Hedrick of Mineral Point, Missouri, Victoria Wagner of Peoria, Arizona; two sons, Joseph M. "Buddy" Benson, Jr. and wife, Anita of Potosi, Missouri, Jerry Garret Benson and wife, Kathy of San Bernadino, California; one sister, Erma Jean Butery of Mineral Point, Missouri; three brothers, Leo Benson of Mineral Point, Missouri, Robert Benson and wife, Peggy of Fredericktown, Missouri, John Benson and wife, Karen of Potosi, Missouri, fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; best friend and hunting buddy, James Parker of Farmington, Missouri; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, "Bud" was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma June Benson, one sister, Lucy Diana Boyet, three brothers, Alfred Lenroe Benson, Stanley E. Benson, Paul Lee Benson and one granddaughter, Rebecca Wynett Cain.

"Bud" attended the Breton Creek Baptist Church. He was always ready and willing to help anyone in need. "Bud" enjoyed fishing, hunting and restoring vintage cars.
He loved visiting with his friends and going to yard sales.

"Bud" also enjoyed scratch off tickets, watching Wheel of Fortune and old western shows especially, John Wayne movies. "Bud" was know for picking fun at people and making them laugh.

Visitation was held Wednesday, May 25, 2011from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday, May 26, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 12:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Wendell Nipper officiating.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Redbud Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were: Buddy Benson, Joe Benson, Woody Jaycox, Sr., Woody Jaycox, Jr., Jimmy Morgan and Gary Harmon.

Memorials are to be directed in memory of "Bud" to the Arthritis Foundation at 9433 Olive Blvd, St. Louis, Missouri 63132-3132.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
