KOREAN WAR VETERAN

Richard T. Schnebly, 72, died Feb. 8, 2001, at his Silver Lake home. He was born Jan.9, 1929 in Independence, Kan. to Ver Forrest and Margaret (Baker) Schnebly. He moved to Silver Lake Oct. 31, 1970, coming from Longview, where he lived for seven years. Prior to that, he lived in Stella.

Mr. Schnebly was a graduate of Pasedena High School. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Pasedena, Calif., and was active in the Pasedena Rose Parade, acting as manager of the event and assisting in the construction of the floats. While living in Longview, he worked for Tolleycraft building ski boats and later for Weyerhaeuser. He retired in 1990 after 26 years, 19 of those years were spent as a barge crane operator. He was an avid boating enthusiast and enjoyed traveling, the outdoors and visiting many historical sites throughout the western United States. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially those at the Lone Fir Tavern. He could be very opinionated at times and loved a good debate. His family will remember how he enjoyed his life and are certain he would not have changed a thing.

He married Millie Berkhimer Feb. 5,1960, in Rosarita Beach, Mexico. She preceded him in death Oct. 31, 1999.

He is survived by two sons, Rogue V. Schnebly or Castle Rock and Burt Schnebly of Couer D'Alene, Idaho; a daughter, Debra Edenshaw of Ketchikan, Alaska; two sisters, Jackie Price of Whittier, Calif., and Frankie Hutchins of Atscadero, Calif.; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

No service will be held. A private committal will take place at Silver Lake Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association Northwest Affiliate 4414, Woodland Park Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98103.

Arrangements are by Hubbard Funeral Home.
