William Clarence Austin was born 13 June 1885 in Casey County, Kentucky. He was married in Lincoln County, Kentucky, on 7 August 1909 to Pina Belle Fletcher. Pina, the daughter of Archibald and Ann Elizabeth (Wilcher) Fletcher, was born in Lincoln County (as were her parents) on 27 August 1885. William, known as "Bud" was a blacksmith, having been taught the trade by George Jefferson Austin. I talked with Bud, Pina, and their widowed daughter Viola on 7 June 1970. Bud and Pina stated they were born the same year about 3 months apart. They resided in Hustonville, Lincoln County. Bud's obituary has him born in 1884, Pina's obituary has her born 1886, but I believe 1885 was correct for both. Pina died 2 November 1972 in Lincoln County, and is buried in Estes Cemetery, New Salem Road, Lincoln County. William died 10 January 1977 at Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford, Lincoln County, and is buried in Estes Cemetery. I attended both their burials. Their children were born in Lincoln County.
