FILVANUS [sic] SIKES, 91, IS DEAD
Was Buried Wednesday in Cockrum Grave Yard.
Filvanus [sic] Sikes, or "Uncle Vane" Sikes as he was usually called by those who knew him, 94 years old, died at 11:30 o'clock Tuesday morning at the home of his step-son, Harve Garnett, in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood, southeast of Novelty. He had been in ill health for some time.
Funeral services were conducted at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the Mt. Pleasant Church by the Rev. O. B. Hobbs of Novelty. Burial was in the Cockrum grave yard.
The widow and one son, Ezra, of Lots, Wash., survive besides the stepson, who lived on the home place. Mr. Sikes was born Nov. 12, 1832, and had lived in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood a long time.
