Her obituary: "Mrs. Benedict is Summoned "Mrs. Mattie Benedict, wife of Stephen Benedict of Unionville, died at Community Hospital at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday. She was 62 years old. funeral services will be held at the home at 2:30 p.m. Thursday followed by burial in Fairview cemetery, Madison. "Mr. Benedict and son, Arthur, are employed at the American Fork and Hoe Co. Geneva plant and the family is well known in Geneva and Unionville. They lived in South Madison before moving to Unionville about 11 years ago. "Mrs. Benedict was a member of the Unionville Congregational church but services will be conducted by Rev. H.P. Metcalf of Central Congregational church of Madison in the absence of Rev. Richard Watt. "The deceased leaves besides her husband, seven children: Mrs. W. L. Clevering, Ralph Stigers, Harry Stigers of Cleveland, Mrs. Paul Caphan of Painesville, Mrs. A. H. Goddard of Mentor and Arthur and Alice Benedict at home. "She also leaves two grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Sheldon Fanner of Bradford, Pa., and a brother, Dr. H.H. Stearns of New York City." Goddard of Mentor, Miss Alice Benedict and Arthur Benedict at home; two grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Sheldon Fanner of Bradford, Pa., and a brother, Dr. H.H. Stearns of New York City. "Funeral services will be held at the home Thursday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. P.H. Metcalf, pastor of the Madison Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be made in the Madison cemetery."
