Raymond H. Pumphrey, 23, specialist 2nd class in the Army, was killed in a truck or jeep accident near Munich, Germany, Dec. 17, his mother Mrs. Marie Hurst Pumphrey, 975 N. Main St., has been notified. It is understood several were killed in the accident.
He was born in Decatur Oct. 3, 1932. His father, Raymond Pumphrey, died in 1938. He attended Warren Grade School and Centennial Junior High School and enlisted in the Army in 1951. He was in Korea two years. In addition to his mother he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Patterson of Decatur, and Mrs. Jean Carrick of Greenville, and a brother, Richard of Ft. Sheridan. The body will be brought to the J. J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Arrangements are incomplete.
